MIKROSTRUKTUR DAN KUAT TEKAN BETON MENGGUNAKAN LIMBAH ABU BATUBARA (POND ASH) SEBAGAI PENGGANTI AGREGAT HALUS

Abstract


Abu batubara di Kalimantan Timur berjumlah sekitar 1.885 ton/bulan hasil pembakaran Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap.Penangangan limbah pembakaran batubara yang direkomendasikan badan pengelola dampak lingkungandengan cara membuang abu batubara ke dalam kolam-kolam yang dialiri air agar abu batubara tidak terbang yang menimbulkan polusi udara. Endapan atau kumpulan abu batubara dalam kolam pengendap dinamakan Pond Ash. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan pond ash untuk campuran beton, dengan menguji pengaruh penggunaan pond ash sebagai pengganti sebagian agregat halus optimum dalam campuran beton, diteliti menggunakan spesimen berbentuk silinder diameter 100 mm dan tinggi 200 mm. Spesimen dibuat dengan mengambil perbandingan prosentase pond ash sebesar 0%: 5%: 10%: 15% dan 20% terhadap campuran beton dengan faktor air semen konstan 0,49 berdasarkan hasil rancangan campuran beton normal f’c 25 MPa. Pengujian beton keras dilakukan terhadap kuat tekan beton dan mikrostruktur dalam campuran beton. Hasil pengujian menetapkan kadar optimum agregat pond ash dalam campuran beton berdasarkan pengujian yang sudah ditetapkan, diperoleh komposisi pond ash optimum 17,5% pada pengujian kuat tekan beton. Maka komposisi optimum untuk bahan campuran pasir 20,0% : pond ash 17,5% : batu pecah 62,5% dan diperoleh hasil kekuatan tekan 25,05 MPa untuk beton normal dan 27,06 MPa untuk beton pond ash optimum atau terjadi peningkatan sebesar 8,05% terhadap beton normal. Terhadap mikrostruktur pada beton normal maupunbeton pond ash menunjukkan hasil yang sama dimana senyawaportlandite (CH) dan tobermorite (CSH) meningkat, tetapi trikalsium silikat (C3S) dan dikalsium silikat (C2S) menurun.
