Abstract

Hose is a connecting component between the hydraulic system, the function of the hose is to continue the flow of oil at a certain pressure and temperature and is one of the shock absorbers in the hydraulic system. The role of hoses is very critical in heavy equipment components apart from the hydraulic system, several systems such as steering, power train, brakes, and even automatic lubrication systems. Hose failure will have fatal consequences for the main components due to lack of fluid. Apart from the failure of the main components, the company also has to bear the costs of wasted oil due to damaged hoses. The purpose of this research is to determine the cause of hose damage in the Caterpillar 777D Off Highway Truck hydraulic system. The research method is to collect data through literature studies and observations at PT. Arkananta. The results of the research found that hose damage was due to errors in making the hose, errors in installing the flanged adapter type on the hose and inaccurate handling of hose changes in the field.
