COMPRESSION STRENGTH CONCRETE WITH POND ASH

Abstract


The effect of the use of pond ash as a partial replacement for fine aggregate sand in the made of concrete investigated using cylindrical specimen diameter of 100 mm and a height of 200 mm. Specimens were made with a mixture of sand weight ratio of the pond ash 0%: 12.5%: 25%: 37.5% and 50% with a constant water-cement ratio of 0.49. Tests were conducted in this study in terms of the compressive strength of concrete is done at the age of 1, 3, 7, 14, 28 and 90 days. The test results showed that the compressive strength of the resulting decrease with the addition of pond ash content in the mix. Effect of the addition of pond ash in the mixture causes a decrease in the compressive strength of concrete. And the biggest drop occurred at a ratio of 50% sand: 50% of the pond ash on the compressive strength of normal concrete plan of 31.73 MPa decreased to 25.97 MPa or a decline of 18.13%.
